Kangeq & Håbets Ø
Take a boat trip to the abandoned settlement of Kangeq and Hans Egede's first settlement, Håbets Ø
Kangeq was for many years in the middle of a migration route for Inuit - it was a good hunting ground and was used long before the Royal Greenlandic Trade (KGH) made it an official trading station and thus a port of call for supplies to the Danish colony in Greenland. Kangeq settlement was an official trading post from the 1850s, but was closed in the late 1960s when the residents were relocated to Nuuk. Today it appears as a ghost town.
After a walk in Kangeq, we sail to Hans Egede's first settlement, Hope Island, where you are also allowed to go ashore and explore the old settlement.
